In The Quiet

In the candle glow we stand,

Moonlight glints through the stained glass windows.

Shoulder to shoulder,

The warmth between bodies spreads.

Notes drift through the air,

Voices hushed,

 Rise and fall.

The melody grows,

Swells and overflows.

Heads bent,

Hands raised.

Higher and higher,

Bodies sway together and apart.

There is a quiet,

A surrounding sense of peace.

The candles flicker, moonlight glints.

Shoulder to shoulder.

Warmth grows.

Peace settles,

Draws near.

Listen.

Ok so over reading break me and 3 of my friends decided to go up to my cabin. My cabin is in Ely, MN which is like way way up there by the boundary waters, and like 5 miles away from canada, or something like that. It takes about 5 hours to get there, 4 is you speed but i don’t recommend that. We went home and we had a big yummy home cooked meal and then spent the night in the city visiting different friends and what not.

we left for the cabin the next morning. we originally said we would leave at 9am, that got pushed back to bout 4pm lol. My mom told me that she called the snowplow guy and he was gonna plow the little dirt road by the cabin. she also said that the heat and the water was gonna be turned off. We decided we would rough it and sleep next to the woodburning stove ,pee outside and melt snow for water.

However when we got up there, there was no snow. so we didn’t really have anyway to get water. Luckily it was warm enough to keep the entire cabin warm with a small fire. So we actually got to sleep in beds which was good. And luckily I ran into the landowner gut who controls all the water and heat and he said that he would turn the water on for the weekend since we were up there.

So all in all it was a really fun weekend. we ended up just sitting around the fire all day and night talking and playing games because it was too cold to go outside. I would say it was a successful weekend.

So I have this puppy, his name it sewart but we call him stewie. He is this crazy little yellow lab who is one year old. The problem is we found him so we don’t exactly know if he had any bad experiences earlier in life. For some reason, we dont know why but he is afraid of tiled floors and wood floors, we think he might have slipped and gotten hurt sometime before we got him. The sad thing is our entire house is wood floors. So this poor little puppy is terrified of our entire house. The funny thing is that he learned that if he walks backwards he wont see the shiny floor so he is not afraid. So Stewie has now learned the entire house by heart so he doesn’t bump into any walls or anything, he can even climb the stairs backwards. I got a call from my sister saying stewie was walking backwards through the kitchen when he bumped into a chair. He didn’t know what to do so he managed his way under the chair oppose to going around it. haha company always has a confuse face on when they see our dog walking backwards around the house. as goofy as he is i love him and he is one of the sweetest dogs.

So this past weekend my friend from my floor invited me to her hometown for the weekend. She lives in a random little town in the middle of nowhere. Her closest neighbor was about a mile away, so literally in the middle of nowhere. Im from the cities so i don’t know farm life all that well so it was a new experience for me. We went to visit her friends and stuff and it was really fun but they all live on different types of farms which was just interesting to me. We went to her one friends farm for a bonfire, she lived on a dairy farm. Now i have never in my life seen a cow up close. THEY ARE SO BIG! it was scary. she invited me to go see all of them and there were so so so many cows. Then she said wanna milk one? This is when i felt like the stupid city girl because this was part of their everyday life and I had no idea how to milk a cow. She taught me and it wasn’t all that hard actually, for some reason i thought it was gonna be hard. Then while we were there two cows went into labor! we didn’t want to see any of that so we decided we would go eat. When we came back though we got to play with really really cute little calfs. it was a really fun weekend overall, and now i can say i milked a cow

So for the past two or three months I have been planning on returning this extra book that I bought. I finally yesterday decided to bring it back to the bookmark. I was running to the library for about an hour and then was going to return it on my way to dinner. I had some coffee that i had brought and put it right behind my laptop… of course I knocked it over. The coffee spilled all over the table all on the carpet and all over my book. To make things even better the lady at the bookmark said that i couldn’t return it now because it wasn’t in new condition. so now i have to sell it for half the price sometime in december. Now this next part I’m really embarrassed about, but I’m going to tell you anyway. So after dinner I was going to go workout but the top little thing of my headphones had fallen off. I remembered that for some reason my dad had sent me superglue in his last package for me. I superglued the piece back on and then put my headphones in and went to workout. I bet you all know what coming next. So at the end of my workout I pull on my headphone to take them out and my left headphone was superglued to my ear! apparently some of the glue dripped down the sides. Anyway i had to rip it out and it was very painful. On top of that I went to the caf after i worked out and grabbed another cup of coffee. Right before i put the lid on I turned around and slipped on a piece of ice that fell on the floor. I ended up spilling my coffee AGAIN! It was a bad day but I have to admit, it was pretty funny looking back on it now.

So apparently I got a little too excited for the upcoming break. I thought it would be a great idea to clean and organize my stuff in my spare time. A nice way to avoid doing some school work. Well after doing so I had quite the collection of stuff that I realized I don’t need here. I then proceeded to put it all in a pretty large garbage bag. Hopefully my roommate doesn’t mind that sitting around in the room for the next two weeks… Oh well. Less to worry about later! On a completely different  note, I have finally found a way to avert myself from facebook while on the computer. I am now officially addicted to picnik.com. It’s a website where you edit photos, and I cannot seem to get enough. Have a nice day!!

Well, as you all know I went home this past weekend to take that test. (I’m glad it’s over, it wasn’t all that horrible.) But getting back to GACland was a struggle…

I took my boyfriends truck to get home since I don’t have a car here, so before I left to come back I needed to fill it with gas (obviously). I stroll on up to good ol’ Holiday and park it at pump 13. Grabbed the card, stepped out, and filled it up. Nothing unusual.

Unfortunately getting back into the car wasn’t as easy as getting out. With the keys in the ignition, wallet, and backpack inside, as well as the cell phone lying face up on the drivers seat, the car decided on its own that I was not getting back in. It was locked. First of all this isn’t supposed to happen. I got out from the inside (aka it unlocks to let me out in the first place), reason #1 why it should not have been locked. Also, the keys were in the ignition, #2 reason why it shouldn’t have locked.

Second of all, this wouldn’t be so horrible if it was a car from my own house. But it wasn’t. It’s my boyfriends car who lives in white bear, except his parents didn’t have the spare key, only he did on campus. I don’t have his number memorized (worst girlfriend ‘09 right here), and my family was all in Wisconsin watching my cousin’s recital (aka phones off).

So I ran home (2 miles) in jeans with nothing but my credit card, raided closets to find my old cell phone and got some people’s numbers. Got the number to a 24 hour auto business. No one answered. To sum things up, my only option was wait for my boyfriend to drive from GAC all the way up to Eagan to unlock his own car, then drive down separately.

Needless to say it wasn’t one of my best moments.

P.S. Told you I’d find something better to write about. I guess that was just my karma for having a horrible blog post last week.

It’s beeeeaaautiful out!! I hope it is like this every single day. I would never want to leave this place. If only, right?! Well, I just got back from running; it felt so good because I think the weather is perfect for running outside so everyone should just drop what they’re doing and go running around campus. I am looking forward to Thanksgiving break! I think it starts on a Wednesday but I can leave Monday after class since I don’t have any classes on Tuesday. Exciting I know! We’re already signing up for spring classes next week. I sign up on Monday at 5 and I think I’ll probably get some of the classes I want but not all because I chose some easy classes. I like taking the easy way out because I’m lazy. I actually want to go running again because I need to burn some calories. Today I had fried food for lunch. I don’t really like running but I think it’s good for me because then I don’t become obese. It’s easier to avoid obesity than to overcome it. So, farewell!

As today was another lovely day, I decided to study outside for a little bit.  I was eating an apple and looking across the hilly landscape, I found that a ground squirrel wasn’t more than a foot away from me and was just staring at me.  It was really cute.  It kept coming up to me little by little and if I shifted it would frantically retreat.  Well, I finished my apple and put the core beside me so I’d have two hands to study with and I could throw it away when I went in.  Once the core was on the ground, the little critter made a final daring attempt toward me, swiped the apple core, and carried it back to it’s hole.  I felt kind of guilty because there’s the whole you should never feed the wildlife thing, but it stole it from me!  The apple was gone in a jiffy too! So I figured it went to a better place than the landfill, it was actually eaten and enjoyed.  I enjoyed myself too, it was a cute ground squirrel!

After the guest speaker came and talked to us about stress, I realized that I stress out a lot.  And I figured out that I procrastinate often, which causes me to stress out.  But I can not not procrastinate if I am not stressed out.  This is a cycle you will never want be in, because you will simply not win! And also I figured I am all about positive reinforcement.  If I do well on something or if a teacher thinks I am doing a good job, I am more likely to get homework done right away for that class (hint hint) Just kidding!

Other than my stress problems, everything is going great. My sport teams are doing AMAZING (Vikings and Celtics are both 7-1!!)
