Well, the break went by too fast (as I’m sure we all knew it would) and we came back only to become more stressed out than we were before. Welcome to college, right? Despite the stress (and trust me, there’s plenty to go around), I’m sure we’re all excited to end the semester and finally start something different. As for me, I only have two actual final tests, but I have a surplus of papers to do on the side. What’s frustrating though is I’d rather take the tests right away instead of waiting ’til the 21st to take my last one. I’ll only have a couple days at home before shipping off to Europe for hockey!

The only thing getting me through is thinking about how good it’s gonna feel when it’s allllllll over :)

Peace out, blog!

Everyone is leaving like right now or sometime today and I’m very jealous. I still have two more hockey practices before I get to leave, so I don’t actually get to go home ’til tomorrow afternoon… dang it. But even still I’m very thankful for the break. It seems like everyone is in a dire need of it, too. People are sick of school, sick of dorm life, sick of each other, and are getting sick! Break came just in time, and I hope everyone enjoys it as much as I plan to! :)

Yesterday the team had a game in Superior, which as a side note is about 3.5-4 hours away, leaving us not go get home ’til about 1:30 a.m. this morning. (However, that was actually an hour earlier than we expected to get home back to GACland.) This was inconvenient though, since I had two tests today, one of them being a religion test at 8am. I rescheduled to take it at 1:30 p.m. today though instead.

Juggling sports and school is harder than I expected, but I know lots of other people have been able to manage before me so there’s no excuse to why I shouldn’t be able to as well.

P.S. we lost our game, and we definitely should have won. The loss made that bus ride home even worse.

Well, as you all know I went home this past weekend to take that test. (I’m glad it’s over, it wasn’t all that horrible.) But getting back to GACland was a struggle…

I took my boyfriends truck to get home since I don’t have a car here, so before I left to come back I needed to fill it with gas (obviously). I stroll on up to good ol’ Holiday and park it at pump 13. Grabbed the card, stepped out, and filled it up. Nothing unusual.

Unfortunately getting back into the car wasn’t as easy as getting out. With the keys in the ignition, wallet, and backpack inside, as well as the cell phone lying face up on the drivers seat, the car decided on its own that I was not getting back in. It was locked. First of all this isn’t supposed to happen. I got out from the inside (aka it unlocks to let me out in the first place), reason #1 why it should not have been locked. Also, the keys were in the ignition, #2 reason why it shouldn’t have locked.

Second of all, this wouldn’t be so horrible if it was a car from my own house. But it wasn’t. It’s my boyfriends car who lives in white bear, except his parents didn’t have the spare key, only he did on campus. I don’t have his number memorized (worst girlfriend ‘09 right here), and my family was all in Wisconsin watching my cousin’s recital (aka phones off).

So I ran home (2 miles) in jeans with nothing but my credit card, raided closets to find my old cell phone and got some people’s numbers. Got the number to a 24 hour auto business. No one answered. To sum things up, my only option was wait for my boyfriend to drive from GAC all the way up to Eagan to unlock his own car, then drive down separately.

Needless to say it wasn’t one of my best moments.

P.S. Told you I’d find something better to write about. I guess that was just my karma for having a horrible blog post last week.

I honestly can’t think of anything to say. Um…

Yesterday I read two different books for a total of 8.5 hours. As long as that is, it didn’t seem that bad. Both books were interesting and I changed my scenery a few times.

Hockey is in kind of a drought. Our first game isn’t ’til next week Friday. Practices on practices on practices…

I’m going home this weekend to take a 4.5 hour test that I need to pass in order to pursue an education major. Not very excited about it.

Well… back to homework. Don’t comment this post. It doesn’t deserve any.

While most everyone else was back at home, I stayed here at good ol’ GAC for a little extra “us” time. Having everyone gone was weird, but it was kind of relaxing, too. Most of the other hockey players stayed the full weekend too, so I was by no means lonely.

My friends and I watched a scary movie called Paranormal Activity last night, actually. I know it’s in theaters, but we managed to find a copy of it online somehow (and by “we”, I mean my friends, because I have no idea how to go about doing such a thing). I recommend it to anyone who likes scary movies- especially for those who tend to get frustrated with the irrational plots that just seem so out-of-this-world that you can’t even believe it enough to raise your heart rate. This movie is about as real as a fake suspense can be.

Hope everyone’s break went well!

I got a package from my mom yesterday :) . I don’t know about any of you, but I love getting mail! My mom works at the high school, so she sent me a bunch of little paper cutouts of various fall-like ornaments: ghosts, leaves, what have you. I’m very excited to decorate me and my roommates door!

Actually though, my parents are in Turkey right now! I know it’s a very random place to go, but free first-class tickets to Turkey are actually a “grand prize” (notice the quotations) for a random drawing at my dad’s work for the end of the year. Funny thing is, he “won” two years in a row. Last time it was me and my brother who accompanied my dad, and needless to say it was a disaster. So, this time my mother is going with.

Maybe they’ll send me packages from there too! :)

Technically tomorrow is the start day for MIAC schools to begin practicing together as a team. Since we still don’t have ice yet (it’s being put in over the weekend), we can’t host tryouts quite yet. They’ll start on Monday and will go for as long as 5 days. It’s up to the coaches when we end, and I don’t know about you, but not knowing how long you have to go 100% is kind of an unsettling feeling. Anyways though, since we can’t practice together on ice, we’re having 3 hours of dryland Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. (Notice the lack of exclamation points.)

Once the season is a few weeks in, I’ll have the old routine that I’m used to and I’ll (hopefully) have a blast. Especially in the beginning though it’s going to be very hard to juggle all this work with practices that take up about 4 hours of the day…

P.S. I’m really sleepy.

I have only been to one of the seminars for the Nobel conference, the one today given by Larry Rassmussen. Was it interesting? Not especially. But to be fair, it wasn’t uninteresting. It is rather frightening to consider the fact that we’re on “house arrest” by God and won’t be bailed out of any natural shortages we face. However, it was pretty intriguing to think about the fact that our bodies are made up of water and other materials that come from billions of years ago. I wasn’t aware of our spectacular use of water in almost everything we do, and this definitely does need to change. The way Rassmussen also considered the three empty chairs, or unheard voices of the poor, nature, and future generations was very effective. Although the main idea of it all was interesting, it was pretty long and personally, I think he sounded like an answering machine.

But I must say, having these days off was pretty awesome.

EVERYONE IS SICK. I’m fairly certain, at least. I had made it this long without getting sick but apparently this is the end of my healthy road. Granted, I’m not actually THAT sick; it could be a lot worse. Just a cold, complete with the works: tired, headache, runny nose, and sore throat. Needless to say, I’ve been taking as many immune booster supplements and Emergen-C packs as I can get my hands on. I was debating signing up for the room-service from the caf anyways though, just for kicks.

Go Twins.
