Everyone keeps saying it, but I really can’t believe that our first semester is actually almost over. What makes it even better is that I seem to be handling this finals week thing pretty well (but it is only Sunday, we’ll have to see how it ends up!). It will definitely be nice to have a break where we don’t actually have any homework to worry about at all!! I’m just not even sure how I’ll be able to handle two weeks with so little stress! I am definitely looking forward to break. However, I am pretty jealous that a bunch of my friends are already home! Oh well, our time will come. Goodbye blogging!!

While i was home for break I got into an interesting conversation with my family. We were eating dinner and we always sit in the same spot at the table. Well, my spot is kinda in the middle and it just seemed a little weird to me to picture my family eating dinner and not having someone sit there. So I asked them if anyone sits in my spot while I am at school or if they move around somehow. It turns out, as I suppose I should have expected, that no one sits in my spot. My parents told me that when they were growing up their family members all had spots at the table as well. My mom said the people at work do the same thing in the break room. I would be willing to guess that many of you do as well. I just think it’s really funny that it works out that way.

This morning instead of heading out to do some black Friday shopping I came over to my grandparents house to do some baking. For some reason my cousins thought it was a great idea to make a very large amount of cookies. As of now we have only begun and I decided to sneak away to blog before I forgot again. Now as for these cookies, I have a feeling that none of them will go to waste. It just so happens we have some hungry men in the family that would like nothing better to do than eat them as soon as they come out of the oven. Luckily Grandma is keeping them from doing so. Well I am off to bake some more. Have a great rest of break everyone!

As I’m sure you heard, the other night there was a meteor shower. Well some girls in my section decided it would be a really fun idea to wake up at three in the morning to go watch it at its “peak.” Not wanting to miss out, I agreed to go. However, my roommate had a big test the next day so she did not want to. I put my alarm on as quietly as possible so I would not wake her. Luckily, I still heard it go off and woke up. We went out and sat in a field to watch the stars. It was actually really pretty. I mad plenty of wishes that night. Afterward we came back and I went to sleep. In the morning my roommate woke up and made the comment, “I wonder if anyone was crazy enough to wake up so late and go watch!” Apparently I did a great job of not waking her up!

So apparently I got a little too excited for the upcoming break. I thought it would be a great idea to clean and organize my stuff in my spare time. A nice way to avoid doing some school work. Well after doing so I had quite the collection of stuff that I realized I don’t need here. I then proceeded to put it all in a pretty large garbage bag. Hopefully my roommate doesn’t mind that sitting around in the room for the next two weeks… Oh well. Less to worry about later! On a completely different  note, I have finally found a way to avert myself from facebook while on the computer. I am now officially addicted to picnik.com. It’s a website where you edit photos, and I cannot seem to get enough. Have a nice day!!

It turns out I forgot to blog last week so this week I will twice! I’m pretty sure that whole moving the clock back an hour really messed with me. I find myself not being able to sleep in as long as I used to! I tend to wake up a whole hour earlier than I used to. Sure, you might think it’d be nice to have an extra hour to do stuff during my day,  but I really just don’t like the idea of it. There’s just something about looking at the clock and seeing such early times that I am not a big fan of. Oh well though, I’m sure it will come in handy.

While I have been home twice already, this time I must say was the best. My dog was finally home! The last two times I went home my dog, Effie, was at the cabin with my Dad. That also means I didn’t see my Dad, or my brother for that matter. I definitely missed those two as well, but it was just so great to finally get to see my dog! I had missed her sleeping on the end of my bed, keeping my feet warm. I considered sneaking her back into the dorm but there’s just no way she’d be able to climb up onto that lofted bed of mine…

This whole mid-term thing is really weird for me. Not because of the whole being really stressed out over way to much stuff to get done by Friday (even though that is also a part of it) but just the fact that we are now halfway done with our current courses!! It feels like we just started. I don’t really know how I’d handle it if this whole college thing goes by this quickly! Even with that, it’ll be nice when this week is over. I’m looking forward to a relaxing weekend at home.

I am getting very excited about Halloween. Last night I spent a lovely evening putting up decorations such as spider webs, warning tape, and other light up sort of things. I also printed off some coloring pages and went back to my young days with good old crayons.  I must say, I’m pretty proud of my Frankenstein and Dracula. Although they look a little happier than I expect they should what with the bright colors I used. However, my one issue with the approaching Halloween is the fact that I do not yet have a costume, or even know what I want to dress up as. There are just so many options. So, if anyone has any good ideas, I am up for hearing those!

I attended the lecture of Larry Rasmussen titled “Just Water”. While it was sometimes hard for me to follow, he did have some very interesting points. The fact that water is the main element of Earth is something that I suppose I knew, but never really considered. It has so many purposes and helps so many things. It even runs through us human beings to keep us going! The increase in population he talked about and the way the water sources will continue to deteriorate was a bit scary.  The three chairs he used representing the poor, nature, and future generations was effective. They showed the three groups that contribute the least amount of damage but are hurt the most by it. He ended his lecture with inspirational ways for us to help with the water supply. He said we should all take personal action, for every little bit helps and “small can be beautiful.”
