I am so incredibly excited for turkey break!! I think we are all ready for some time off. This weekend was pretty uneventful for me. I had 3 tests and a presentation this past week, so I don’t have much homework… hopefully this trend will continue over break haha. The Vikings played a great game and totally destroyed Seattle! I believe we are only trailing New Orleans for the best record
. I can’t WAIT to see all of my friends over break!! This excitement is going to make it extremely hard to focus for the next few days… hopefully the profs will take it easy on us haha. See you all tomorrow.

These past few weeks have been REALLY hectic and stressful. I feel as though everything is due at the same time and all of my presentations/tests/quizzes are on the same day! This weekend was a good break for me to catch up on everything. I am seriously sleep-deprived and have consumed more coffee in the past week than I have in the past 3 months! Time to slow it down a bit haha. I did manage to make a little time for myself this weekend. I went to the girls basketball scrimmage and watched boys hockey beat Olaf in a really good game. I also went to LineUs on Friday night. They were super funny! I couldn’t believe how many people came to watch. Alright, time to get back to work. See you all tomorrow!

I am loving this weather! I was kind of upset that we seemed to just skip the fall season and move right into the cold, but I was happy to see some nicer weather this week
. I thought for this blog, I would share some of my reactions to the play on Thursday. It was, as many people have earlier mentioned, VERY confusing; The first play was especially hard to follow. However, as confusing as they were, I was still able to somewhat understand what the author was trying to convey to the audience. The plays were very well put together, and I thought the actors did a fantastic job. I was really able to feel the emotions of the characters. The plays were very haunting, and were very thought-provoking. I spent a good deal of time thinking about the plays afterwards, and the more I thought about them, the more I was able to understood. I enjoyed the plays, and even thought I wasn’t always able to follow everything, they successfully conveyed strong emotions to help the audience feel as thought they were a part of the performance.

So this is supposed to be my blog from this weekend… totally forgot! My bad. This weekend was really fun! I love Halloween! Especially since you can go to Chipotle and get a free burrito and chips if you have tinfoil on you somewhere
Yum! It’s always so fun to see what people dress up as… some people are so creative! Myself not included. The basement mine thing was pretty good… it was really dark! I had my friend’s grip imprinted on my arm when we got out, though, so I take it she thought it was pretty scary haha. Now we get to look forward to Thanksgiving break! 22 days away! I can’t wait to be home and have all that home-cooked food… just have to survive a couple more weeks! See you all in class!

I forgot to do my blog for the weekend, sorry!! I am at home this weekend, and it has been great to spend time with my family! I drove to UW Lacrosse on Saturday to visit one of my friends, and drove back Sunday afternoon. It was so fun to see her! We went to their homecoming game, and later that evening walked along the river and ate ice cream.
Today was not as relaxing, however. Apparently my mom made an appointment to have our wood flooring buffed and varnished, but didn’t realize it would land on one of the days that I was home. So I got up early this morning, went to breakfast and did some errands with my mom while they worked on the floor, and then came home only to be quarantined to our 3 season porch because we couldn’t walk on the floor. This wouldn’t have been so bad if it hadn’t been for the fact that our wooden floor covers the entire middle section of our house, and prevented access to any food or any of the bathrooms. Needless to say, we spent the majority of the day at my Grandfather’s house. Now I’m back and able to walk on the floor, but it smells very strongly and rather unpleasantly of varnish. Oh well, even with all the commotion I’m still glad to be at home!
See you all Wednesday!

So I just watched the Vikings barely get a win… it was almost painful to watch the last couple of minutes. Our defense just decided they weren’t going to play the last quarter, I guess; not to mention we only won because their kicker missed. Sweet win, guys. Anyways, this weekend was pretty fun! My friend came to visit me from NDSU and it was so great to see her! It’s hard having her that far away
. This week is going to be BRUTAL. I have tons of homework and about a million things that are due, plus I have a bio and chem test on the same day. That should definitely not be allowed. I am super excited for reading days so I can go home!! I’m also driving to UW Lacrosse on saturday to see my best friend. So all I have to do is survive this week! Wish me luck. See you all tomorrow!

So I know i’m supposed to blog on the weekend, but I feel that it will be easier to write about the lectures soon after they took place. One of the speakers I listened to was Nobel laureate Dr. Pachauri, and his speech was not only interesting but a very prevalent topic in today’s society. He spoke about the climate changes that have been and will be taking place, largely due to the change in our water supply. This topic is important to me because these are changes that we will see in our lifetime and our children’s lifetime. He listed many abnormalities that are surfacing, such as a rise in average surface temperature, more heat waves, heavier precipitation in some areas with heavy droughts in others, more tropical cyclones, and a rise in sea level. It was very surprising to hear of the large number of countries that are living in dangerously water-stressed regions. The water shortages, along with flooding in other areas, can have devastating effects such as malnutrition, pathogen or chemical loading, and outbreaks of infectious diseases. One really scary prediction he made was that if these problems are ignored, crop revenue could fall by 90% by 2100 in Africa. The changes in climate will affect access to food and resources, stable health conditions, and will eventually lead to tension between countries and international conflicts over the lack of resources. I believe that although many of these changes are already taking place, it’s not too late to make a difference. Dr. Pachauri’s lecture was inspirational and eye-opening, and I hope everyone will do their best to help us change our future.

So this weekend I went back home for my school’s homecoming. It was so fun to see all of my friends! Not to mention my home team DOMINATED on the field.
On the other hand, it was freezing cold and raining/sleeting the whole time, but it was worth it! It was also really nice to see my family and sleep in my old bed… soooo comfortable. I didn’t do much of anything productive this weekend, but that’s what Sunday’s are for! I feel like I have done nothing but eat since I went home because it was amazing to have home-cooked meals… yum. I will be heading back to GAC in a couple of hours, after the Twins game (hopefully a win!). See you all on Monday!

Hey all. So the weekend is FINALLY here… even though the weeks have been going by pretty quickly. I have an insane amount of homework and studying to do with 2 tests coming up this week, but I still plan to enjoy my weekend! I just got back from the football game, which we lost.
But at least the team that beat us is one of the best! It’s hard to lose to St. John’s, though, because my sister went to St. Ben’s. Ah well, maybe next time! Plus we’ll beat them in hockey
. I am once again sitting in the library, trying to focus. I found that I do well on the third floor, because I like the quiet, and not being able to talk helps me get more done! But so far I haven’t really done anything productive… time to get on that. See you soon.

I am a complete newbie at blogging but here goes! I have been loving my time at Gustavus so far, even though i have TONS of homework to do. I have officially been sitting in the library for 3 hours and have gotten less than half of my work done… but that’s what Sundays are for! I have always had a really bad habit of leaving all of my homework until Sunday, which I am attempting to break free from, so far fairly unsuccessfully haha. I thought i’d give my brain a break from the chemistry, biology, and spanish overload to do my blog!
Today our section went on an adventure to an apple farm and picked apples, which we then brought back to the dorm and dipped in caramel! It was really fun. This coming weekend I am hopefully going to visit my best friend at UW Lacrosse, and I am soooo incredibly excited! I haven’t seen her in about a month. The weekend after that is my hometown’s homecoming, which I am of course going back for! But now I suppose I’d better get back to the daunting pile of papers and textbooks sitting in front of me… See you all on Monday!
