November 2009

Break was sooooo wonderful. It could not have come at a better time! I definitely needed some time off from school! Over break I hung out with friends and family. We went to my cousin’s house for Thanksgiving dinner and I am proud to say I think I ate my weight in turkey and pumpkin pie :) . Even my family that doesn’t live very close was able to make it, so it was great to see them. I LOVED that I was able to see all my friends and catch up on everything since school started! My sister and her fiance also made it home for the long weekend and I hadn’t seen her in a while. I didn’t, however, get very much homework done haha. Oh well! That’s what Sunday nights are for. It was kind of sad to leave, even though I did miss GAC, but only 3 weeks until we’re home again! See you all tomorrow!

Thanksgiving break was amazing!! It was so nice being home, it went by way to fast. Over break I went to my grandmas and saw some of my family. I ate way way to much but its ok cause thats what thanksgiving is for! My grandma makes the best food it was soooo good! I had four pieces of pie. After Thanksgiving i spent a lot of time with my friends. We went out to dinner one night about 8 of us girls it was really fun. Then we had a sleep over i got a total of 4 hours of sleep. Probably not very good on account i went to the doctor the next morning at 9am cause i couldn’t breath. Turns out that the cold i’ve had for the past four weeks is actually pneumonia. I am now on 4 diff prescriptions for the next two weeks. I feel pretty terrible but I’m just glad that i finally will be able to get 100% better! Since i’ve been so sick I also spent a lot of time laying in bed and watching movies over break so i have a lot of home work to catch up on. I’m not really looking forward to the next three weeks, i’m gonna be locked in my room writing papers and books i’m afraid. On the other hand i love this time of year the holiday season is my absolute favorite!!

It’s tradition in my family to put up the christmas decorations right after Thanksgiving and I love it so much!!  We played awesome x-mas music and now our house looks so festive.  Christmas is my favorite holiday, I just love everything about it!!  Only 3 more weeks :) :) :)  I am super excited to just relax and not have to even THINK about homework.  Just having fun sledding, drinking hot cocoa, and have a good time!!

Ohhh snap! I totally forgot to post on Thursday. My bad. The one day I don’t post, too. :(

Thanksgiving break has been pretty FLY! I got to drink a whole bunch of Starbucks. And drove around a whole lot, hung out with friends, ate delicious food with my family and stuff. And played video games which is definitely what I’m going to do in a little bit here. It feels like I never left, which is kind of funny. Because once I get back to Gustavus, I’ll feel like I never left Gustavus. WEIRD HUH?

I’m sorry. I’m in a bit of a crazy mood, it must be the ammonia. I’m dying my hair red. hehehehe

Today I saw the movie Ninja Assassin. It was pretty cool. Cool as in, a whole lot of blood, sharp objects, and very little plot. Me and my friends, we kept laughing though. People dying shouldn’t be funny but we weren’t laughing about that, don’t worry. It was the strange similarities to another show we’ve watched before. That’s what made us laugh. And the main character is a Korean pop singer Rain, and I just gotta say that he is mighty fine. It is a good thing he spent half the movie shirtless. Oh, and the picture there on wiki does him no justice. Have a music video.

Okay well, it’s time to wash out my hair so I may have different colored hair. CATCH YOU GUYS LATER!!!

Blessed Cargo

The cargo ships are loaded,

Sent out across a space.

Space that is nothing, yet space that is vast.

Fear, worry, angst

Thanksgiving and praise

All is sent on the cargo ships.

When they reach the golden gates they are unloaded.

Each thought, feeling and worry is taken up,

Not one parcel is forgotten or misplaced.

Each is treated as the most precious of cargo.

  The weight is lifted.

For the return trip

New packages are carefully selected

Each holds some truth, some necessity.

Joy, peace, love, grace, mercy.

Carefully wrapped

The packages fill the ship.

Each gift is blessed.

Every person receives an answer.

Wait.

Your ship will come.

This morning instead of heading out to do some black Friday shopping I came over to my grandparents house to do some baking. For some reason my cousins thought it was a great idea to make a very large amount of cookies. As of now we have only begun and I decided to sneak away to blog before I forgot again. Now as for these cookies, I have a feeling that none of them will go to waste. It just so happens we have some hungry men in the family that would like nothing better to do than eat them as soon as they come out of the oven. Luckily Grandma is keeping them from doing so. Well I am off to bake some more. Have a great rest of break everyone!

Here’s a chance to share something: what are you thankful for?

I know many (most?) of you won’t see this until after the holidays, but I thought it would be nice to sustain the spirit of thanksgiving through the final stressful tobaggan ride of the semester.

I’m going home soon!! :D I could have gone home yesterday since I didn’t have any classes today but my buddy who is also from Burnsville needed a ride so I’m waiting for him to get done with class today! I’ve been tidying up my room and trying to not forget anything. I’m bringing a lot of my oatmeal home because oatmeal is a big part of my life so I can’t forget that! Also, I don’t want to forget to bring homework home. I have to read a lot and I don’t want to have to do it the Sunday we get back. I am so excited to see my family and to eat home-cooked meals! I hope I gain 25 pounds after break. I need more fat so that I will stay warm in the winter. It’s supposed to be really cold during break though and possibly even snow? Yikes! I will have a good time regardless. I’m looking forward to Black Friday and seeing Hanna working at the mall! It’s a good time to get Christmas presents and even gifts for yourself. :) Well, I hope everyone has a really good and happy thanksgiving!!! :)

Everyone is leaving like right now or sometime today and I’m very jealous. I still have two more hockey practices before I get to leave, so I don’t actually get to go home ’til tomorrow afternoon… dang it. But even still I’m very thankful for the break. It seems like everyone is in a dire need of it, too. People are sick of school, sick of dorm life, sick of each other, and are getting sick! Break came just in time, and I hope everyone enjoys it as much as I plan to! :)

Its finally here!!! I can’t wait to go get back and eat everything in the house, sit on the couch all day, and just relax for a week.  I have no idea what or where my family is going for thanksgiving but Im sure we will have a good time no matter where we go.  I’m going to keep this one short because I’m leaving soon!! Have a great thanksgiving everybody.
